De Bortoli Wines has celebrated another successful showing at the 2026 National Wine Capital Show, taking home two Trophy awards and four Gold Medals across wines from the Riverina, Yarra Valley and Heathcote.
The results recognise the breadth of De Bortoli's portfolio, with wines spanning cool-climate classics, Italian varietals and Australia's benchmark Botrytis dessert wine.
More than forty years after its creation, 2022 Noble One continues to set the benchmark for Australian Botrytis dessert wine. First crafted by Darren De Bortoli in 1982, Noble One remains one of the most awarded wines in Australian history and is internationally recognised for its quality and consistency.
The 2022 vintage displays vibrant aromas of honey, tropical fruits, candied orange peel and gentle spice, leading to a rich palate beautifully balanced by fresh acidity. Produced from carefully selected Riverina vineyards affected by the beneficial Botrytis cinerea fungus, Noble One exemplifies the meticulous vineyard management and patient winemaking that have defined this flagship wine for decades.
Its Trophy for Best Sweet White, alongside a Gold Medal, further reinforces Noble One's enduring reputation as Australia's benchmark Botrytis Semillon.
The 2025 Estate Vineyard Gamay Noir continued its impressive rise, taking home the Best Red Varietal Trophy alongside a Gold Medal.
Produced from De Bortoli's family-owned Yarra Valley Estate Vineyard, the wine reflects the elegance and purity that Gamay can achieve in Australia's premier cool-climate region. The warm, dry 2025 growing season delivered vibrant fruit and fine natural balance, while careful hand harvesting, wild yeast fermentation and thoughtful winemaking have resulted in a wine with lifted aromas of blue fruits and violets, silky texture and fine tannins.
The result further highlights the growing reputation of Gamay in the Yarra Valley and the ongoing evolution of the Estate Vineyard range.
Additional Gold Medals were awarded to the 2024 Lusatia Park Pinot Noir and 2024 Bella Riva Sangiovese, further showcasing the diversity of De Bortoli's regional portfolio.
The 2024 Lusatia Park Pinot Noir continues the legacy of one of the Yarra Valley's most highly regarded single vineyards. Hand cultivated at Woori Yallock using a minimal intervention approach, the vineyard consistently produces Pinot Noir with depth, perfume, silky tannins and exceptional ageing potential.
Representing Heathcote, the 2024 Bella Riva Sangiovese was recognised for its vibrant, savoury style and regional character. The Gold Medal reflects De Bortoli's continued success crafting expressive Mediterranean varietals that thrive in Australian conditions.
The results from the 2026 National Wine Capital Show reinforce De Bortoli's commitment to producing wines of exceptional quality across a diverse range of regions and styles.
From the enduring success of Noble One in the Riverina to the continued recognition of Yarra Valley cool-climate wines and Heathcote's emerging Italian varietals, this year's awards celebrate the craftsmanship, regional expression and innovation that continue to define De Bortoli Wines.
