De Bortoli Wines is proud to celebrate the success of Old Boys 21 Years Barrel Aged Tawny, which was awarded a coveted Master Medal at the 2025 The Drinks Business Global Fortified Masters.
The Master Medal is the highest accolade awarded within The Drinks Business Global Wine Masters competition series, recognising wines of exceptional character and craftsmanship. This achievement also contributed to Senior Red & Fortified Winemaker Roberto Delgado being recognised in the Master Winemaker 100 for 2026.
The Old Boys 21 Years Barrel Aged Tawny forms part of De Bortoli's collection of aged premium fortified wines, matured in oak barrels at the family winery and crafted from carefully selected parcels of wine, some dating back decades.
These blends are a living history of the De Bortoli family, reflecting generations of winemaking expertise and a commitment to producing fortified wines of distinction. Through extended maturation and thoughtful blending, the wine develops remarkable depth and complexity.
Displaying a classic tawny colour with streaks of amber, the wine reveals aromas of dark raisined fruits, mocha, vanillin oak and nutty aged barrel characters. Rich and luscious on the palate, integrated coffee and mocha notes combine with mature barrel-aged flavours to create a smooth, lingering finish.
The success of Old Boys 21 Years Barrel Aged Tawny secured Roberto Delgado's inclusion in The Drinks Business Master Winemaker 100 for 2026, recognising his outstanding achievements in international wine competitions and placing him among a select group of Australian winemakers featured in the list.
Having joined De Bortoli Wines in 2005, Roberto has played an integral role in the continued success of the winery's fortified wine program, helping to uphold a winemaking tradition that spans generations.
This recognition highlights both the strength of De Bortoli's fortified portfolio and the dedication behind every bottle, reaffirming the winery's reputation for producing exceptional fortified wines enjoyed in Australia and around the world.
