De Bortoli Wines celebrates Sweet Success in the 2023 Show Season

As the 2023 show season comes to an end, De Bortoli wines proudly reflects on a remarkable year, with the company being awarded 39 trophies and over a 100 gold medals. Despite economic uncertainties, their commitment to excellence and innovation has propelled them to greater heights. 

Sweeping Success for Noble One

Since 1982, De Bortoli Wines has been a trailblazer in crafting sweet white wines, with their Botrytis Semillon wines winning the Best Sweet White Wine trophy at 5 out of 7 Australian Capital City Wine Shows. This year, the iconic Noble One led the charge, securing an impressive tally of 7 trophies and 11 gold medals. Along with this, it also won the Halliday Wine Companion Trophy for Award Winning Varietal and the Platinum award in the 2023 Decanter World Wine Awards. Additionally, Deen Botrytis Semillon also garnered 2 trophies and 4 gold medals, reaffirming De Bortoli Wines’ position as an industry leader in the Australian sweet wine category.

Triumphant Wins for the Fortified and Woodfired ranges

Adding to the wine show success, across their expansive fortified wine catalogue, De Bortoli Wines also amassed 4 trophies and 12 gold medals. The Woodfired Heathcote range also had an exceptional year, with the 2020 Woodfired Heathcote Shiraz proudly claiming the trophy for Best Syrah and a Platinum Medal at the 2023 Las Vegas Global Wine Awards. The 2021 Woodfired Heathcote Grenache and Woodfired Heathcote Cabernet Sauvignon also dominated the national and international arena, securing 6 gold medals in total between the two.

Pinot Noir & Rosé Excellence on the Global Stage

Meanwhile, 2022 PHI Pinot Noir triumphed in 2023, winning 4 trophies at the Victorian Wine Show. Not only this, but the 2022 PHI Pinot Noir and the 2022 La Bohème Pinot Noir were also awarded the prestigious title of Pinot Noir Masters at the Drinks Business' Asian Pinot Noir Masters. 

Furthermore, Rosé Rosé claimed 2 trophies,  2 gold medals and earned the esteemed title of the Global Rosé Masters by the Drinks Business. This exceptional Rosé helped put Australian Rosé  on the world map as it was the lone Australian Rosé in the Top 10 Rosés globally. 

In addition to these notable mentions, the company also secured a Harpers’ Design Award for their latest release, Chill Bill and three Most Successful Exhibitor of Show trophies for consistency in quality across many wines. Moreover, they were also honoured with the Chairman’s Award for being a winery that embodies unparalleled quality, craftsmanship and innovation at the Las Vegas Global Wine Show.

 

All price points were awarded accolades - from the affordable 2023 Sacred Hill Chardonnay and 2021 Deen De Bortoli Chardonnay to the 2022 Rutherglen Estate Sangiovese and 2021 Rutherglen Estate Durif. Spanning wineries in Yarra Valley, Bilbul and Rutherglen to the vineyards in the Heathcote and King Valley region, this show season showcased De Bortoli’s prowess in producing quality wines that truly embody the essence of the region in which they are produced.

 

As the curtains fall on the 2023 show season, it marks a triumphant chapter for De Bortoli Wines.
