A true expression of Yarra Valley Elegance: De Bortoli’s latest Cool Climate Pinot Noir

Media Release, September 2025

Why is the Yarra Valley Ideal for Cool-Climate Pinot Noir?

Pinot Noir is one of the most expressive and transparent grape varieties on the planet. As it is highly sensitive to small variations in growing conditions, optimal site selection is critical. In the ‘cool climate’ of the Yarra Valley, the variety thrives, producing charming, fragrant, and opulent Pinot Noir.

James Halliday once described the Yarra Valley perfectly: “It is a place of extreme beauty, of constantly changing light, of colour and mood. It offers landscapes on a heroic scale with the same profligacy as it offers intimate vistas. Once you have seen it, you cannot help but love it.”

De Bortoli's Cool Climate Pinot Noir

Cool night-time temperatures and a mild growing season provide ideal conditions for Pinot Noir, producing wines that are elegant, vibrant, and distinctly regional. Gentle and considered handling of the fruit gives both depth and freshness. Sourced from premium De Bortoli Yarra Valley estate vineyards, this Cool Climate Pinot Noir is an outstanding lighter-framed red with lifted aromas of red and dark fruits, supple, fine, and textured.

The Yarra Valley was the birthplace of Victoria’s wine industry in the 1800s and remains at the forefront of Australian Pinot Noir. As one of the leading producers in the region, De Bortoli continues to demonstrate why the Yarra Valley is celebrated worldwide for its premium cool-climate wines.
