Media Release, March 2025

A New Take on a Classic

Chardonnay remains one of the most versatile and expressive grape varieties in Australia, with winemakers embracing its ability to produce a wide range of styles. From lean and mineral-driven to rich and full-bodied, there is a Chardonnay for every palate. The latest release from De Bortoli Wines, the 2024 Buttery Chardonnay, highlights the richer, more indulgent side of the varietal, a style that continues to be loved by many Australian wine drinkers.

A Bold, Buttery Expression of Chardonnay

The 2024 Buttery Chardonnay is a celebration of the richness and complexity that make this varietal so iconic. Lush layers of ripe peach, melon, and a subtle hint of butterscotch come together in a smooth, buttery texture that finishes with a fresh, lingering note. Whether enjoyed with food or on its own, this Chardonnay pairs beautifully with roast chicken, seafood, or creamy pasta, making it a versatile choice for any occasion.

A Must-Have for Chardonnay Enthusiasts

"Our goal was to create a Chardonnay that celebrates the richness and texture that many people love, while still feeling fresh and balanced,” says Joel Veenhuizen, Winemaker at De Bortoli Wines. “We carefully selected fruit with expressive stone fruit notes and guided the wine through malolactic fermentation and oak maturation to achieve a beautifully textured and full-bodied wine.”

As the demand for a buttery Chardonnay continues to grow, De Bortoli’s 2024 Buttery Chardonnay offers wine enthusiasts a fresh expression of the beloved style. With its layered complexity and fresh finish, it’s a wine that delivers on flavour and texture, perfect for those who enjoy Chardonnay’s more indulgent side.
