With over half of the world’s population living in urban areas, the role of urban forest in providing environmental, economic and social benefits cannot be underestimated.

Vertical forests center on a new format of architectural biodiversity which focuses not only on human beings, but also on the relationship between humans and other living species. Vertical forests are home for trees that also house humans and birds.

“Bosco Verticale” (vertical forest in Italian) in Milan was completed in 2014 and is home to 20,000 plants.
