DB Family Selection Verdelho 2010

Region
Riverina

Appearance
Straw in colour.

Bouquet
Has an inviting honeysuckle perfume mingled with tropical fruit and
a hint of nutty oak.

Palate
A fresh vibrant wine. It has a creamy texture balanced with acidity and luscious fruit.

Vintage Conditions
The lead up to vintage 2010 saw quite mild growing conditions and some rainfall. The rain abated for half of vintage, January through to middle of February with disease pressure being very low during this time. January and February night temperatures were quite mild allowing fruit to ripen and retain good acidity.

Winemaking
Fruit was sourced from four main blocks around Griffith. A small percentage of cool climate Sauvignon  was added for freshness & liveliness on the palate. The juice was cold settled then racked to fermentation. Fermentation took place at moderate temperatures to promote fruitiness and fullness of the wine. The wine then spent 10 months on yeast lees to soften and add texture to the palate.

UK
A beautiful and refreshing wine, mostly verdelho with a touch of sauvignon blanc, that holds its own with strongly flavoured food. I'm thinking smoky squid or marinated chicken.

UK
If you fancy a change from Chardonnay, try this. It has the roundness and citrus character of a young unoaked Chardonnay, but there's also a tangy bit of lime. Lovely before the food arrives, but also works like a spritz of lemon when accompanying salmon steaks, spicy chicken pieces and veggie burgers.
