DB Family Selection Semillon Chardonnay 2010

Region
Riverina

Appearance
Pale straw.

Bouquet
Nutty oak complements lifted citrus and stone fruit aromas.

Palate
This fresh zesty wine is balanced by a creamy oak mid palate whilst encompassing quaffable lemon and stonefruit flavours throughout.

Vintage Conditions
The lead up to vintage 2010 saw quite mild growing conditions and some rainfall. The rain abated for half of vintage, January through to middle of February with disease pressure being very low during this time. January and February night temperatures were quite mild allowing fruit to ripen and retain good acidity.

Winemaking
Premium parcels of local fruit were picked at peak flavour ripeness showing concentrated  varietal characters. Fermentation in Stainless Steel was combined with fermentation on French and American Oak to add complexity and palate definition. Selected parcels of wine underwent MLF helping to round out the palate and give added complexity. French and American Oak were used to give structure and character; both Semillon and Chardonnay components were fermented on oak for up to three weeks. Select parcels had extended lees contact to add texture and mouth feel to the final blend.
