DB Traminer Riesling 2009

Region
Riverina.

Appearance
Brilliant straw yellow with a hint of gold.

Bouquet
Lifted rose petal and lychee with a hint of background spice.

Palate
A generous fruit driven wine showing great line and definition. Finishes tight with juicy acid.

Vintage Conditions
The lead up to the 2009 harvest in the Riverina was one of the best on record, refreshing rains during Spring and mild December temperatures resulted in flavour intensity and superior acid structure. The end of January saw an unprecedented heat wave of 40 degrees plus for 14 days which resulted in delayed ripening - overall the vintage was good to excellent.

Winemaking
Premium parcels of local Traminer fruit were selected for their varietal expression and flavour concentration. Riesling fruit showed great depth of flavour and natural acidity on the vine, giving backbone to the final blend. All parcels fermented cool in 100% Stainless Steel to retain aromatics and primary fruit characters.

"A classic Germanic blend of Riesling and Traminer works well together in this golden-hued Aussie beauty. Soft rose petal and bright citrus notes on the nose are welcoming, while fruity tones like juicy peach are streaked with refreshing acidity, A satisfying bottle for the price and ideal fit with Thai-influenced dishes."

"Here's an expressively aromatic white that strikes a perfect balance between sweet and sour notes. Peach, grapefruit and honeyed notes make this off-dry wine approachable and enjoyable. It's refreshing enough to enjoy by the glass and has the right stuff to pair with milder Thai dishes."

"Pale straw in colour with an aromatic, minerally nose of grapefruit, lychee and oriental spices; off-dry and suprisingly elegant for the price with honeyed grapefruit, peach and lavender flavours."

"A new label adorns this attractively-priced aromatic blend from De Bortoli's DB Family Selection. Fragrant orange blossoms and stone fruits, honey and exotic spice aromas reappear on the palate with a lingering spicy finish. Off-dry but very juicy with a mouth-watering finish to cleanse the palate. This is a tasty, no-brainer patio sipper or pair with spicy fish cakes or Thai noodle salads."
