Vintage Conditions
The lead up to vintage 2010 saw quite mild growing conditions and some rainfall. The rain abated for half of vintage January through to middle of February with disease pressure being very low during this time. January and February night temperatures were much lower compared to 2009 allowing fruit to ripen and retain good acidity.
Winemaking
Low yielding young vineyards were selected for this style of wine. Wine making techniques included fermentation at elevated temperatures as well as with natural solids. These techniques improve texture and softness without sacrificing varietal expression. The wine is given some time on yeast lees to give complexity to the natural fruit flavours.

The 2010 DB Pinot Grigio gives notes of ripe apples, pear slices and honeysuckle. Light-bodied with medium-high acid, it offers just enough clean apple and stone fruit flavor concentration, finishing medium long.

"This smells green and fresh with notes of apples and honeydew melon topped with strong floral tomes. On entry there is a rush of bitter peach pit fruit that's followed by a decidedly sweet, almost caramel tone that in turn gets tempered by the rising acid. The mid palate shows nice apple peel and apple skin tones before yielding to a bright back-end full of grapefruit and pineapple that lingers on the sugar extended finish. This is surprisingly fruity after a slow start and is simply a fresh, fun Pinot Grigio. A great wine to serve lovers of White Zin."

"It's rare to find a $9 wine as zesty and pleasant to drink as this pinot grigio. This is soft, with the tangy flavor of orange rind and a hint of almonds. Chill it for poached prawns. Best Buy."
Joshua Greene, Wine and Spirits, January 2011
