Sacred Hill Cabernet Merlot 2008

Region
Australia

Appearance

Vibrant purple, deep crimson

Bouquet
Sweet fragrant aromas of blackberries with underlying mint and hints of milk chocolate oak

Palate
A generous wine that shows sweet and vibrant fruit on the fleshy palate with soft mouth coating tannins.

Vintage Conditions

Warmer than usual January nights lead to some varieties reaching maturity earlier than previous years. Late ‘07 rains and showers in January ensured vines in good health. A cooler February than usual allowed for good fruit development and varietal expression.

Winemaking
Fruit was selected by the winemaker and picked when both flavour and Baumé were optimum.  Warm fermentation temperatures and gentle colour tannin extraction were used to create a soft wine style.

General Characteristics

Dry  Medium Bodied

Pretty Good
"This Riverina blend delivers a wine that is medium-bodied with a round, soft and supple palate highlighting redcurrant and cassis and some firmness to finish."

Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2011, October 2010

88 Points

Vibrant colour; juicy young fruited style; redcurrant and a touch of cedar; clean and vibrant on the finish. Has developed a few savoury characters, which add to the interest and length.

James Halliday, Australian Wine Companion, August 2010

A light to medium-bodied blend with lifted confectionery red berry notes on the nose and a pleasant supple palate. At this price you get a case and bring it out at your next barbecue

Ray Jordan, Fresh - Best Reds, The West Australian, June 2010

"Cassis and plums on the nose and solid cabernet flavours of plums and black fruits. Value for money!"
