"A well structured balanced shiraz with it's earthy, smoky black cherry fruit and well integrated oak spice. The palate is full bodied juicy with firm tannin thought it remains juicy to the finish. Very good length."

This family owned, Riverina-based business has always aimed higher than most of its peers, and has not hesitated to use winemaking methods more commonly reserved for higher priced wines. So it is no suprise this should be an altogether superior wine at this price point. While the palate is only light-to-medium-bodied, the black fruits have good texture, reflecting 12 months in older oak. It's ready for action.

Deep garnet colored, 2008 Deen Vat 8 Shiraz gives ripe blackberry and kirsch aromas with hints of cinnamon stick and ground cloves. Medium-bodied, it has just enough spiced black fruit concentration in the mouth with medium-high acid, chewy tannins, and finishing medium-long. Drink it now through 2013.

"A sliced price until May 22 for a solid red value. Aromas show iodine, vanilla bean, mocha and a hint of freshly baked bread crust. The flavours are all fleshy blackberry, blueberry skin and vanilla bean. The finish is posh, with rakishly structured blackberry, cedar and vanilla."

"Deen De Bortoli 2008 Vat 8 Shiraz is a well structured balanced wine with its smoky dry black cherry fruit well integrated with oak spice. It is full bodied with good mature tannins and the juicy fruit keeps it flowing nicely onto the long finish."

Medium-bodied fruity shiraz with fine tannins, subtle oak and pleasant fruit intensity. Soft supple palate with a long finish. Well-made wine for short-term drinking
