Sero Chardonnay Pinot Grigio 2009

Region
King Valley

Appearance
Pale straw colour with good green edge.

Bouquet
Fresh, grassy nose, hints of melon but with perfume and musk.

Palate
Soft, light, elegant, interesting, thirst quenching.

Vintage Conditions
In 2009 the King Valley experienced a warm, long growing season, finishing quite late. Perhaps the best season in 10 years.

Winemaking
Chardonnay picked by machine in the cool of the evening, Pinot Grigio whole bunch pressed to avoid the pink colour pick up. Fruit is gently pressed to avoid any of the nasty bitter flavours but also to get the right phenolics for texture. The pressed juice is fermented in both tank and cask at elevated temperatures to ‘blow off’ the fruitiness. The resultant wine is light and mineral and has a texture and feel that makes it dry and very delicious. Partial fermentation in older casks
