King Valley, Victoria

Deep red with good purple hues

Bouquet
Rich strawberry fruits with underlying spice

Palate
Rounded, luscious mid-palate showing rich berry and plum characters. Soft mouth-coating tannins with generous depth of flavour.

Vintage Conditions
Dry weather and warm sunny days with low crop levels have created wines with great flavour intensity.

Winemaking
Varieties from low yielding vineyards with suitable flavour profiles were selected. Some cane-cut parcels are included within the blend creating complexity. Fruit is crushed and destemmed into static fermenters where it is left on skins and fermented at temperatures up to 25-27°C. Following pressing the wine is racked to barrel and left to age in French and American barriques before blending and bottling. Full malolactic fermentation, French and American oak barriques.

General Characteristics
Dry  Medium Bodied

"This King Valley wine from De Bortoli has benefited from time in the bottle. It's softened and is now softer, rounder and fleshier than before - in fact, my tasting notes included the comment 'almost lush' and noted its good finish."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2009

"Luscious mid-palate showing rich berry and plum flavours."
National Liquor News, August 2007

"Camphor oak merges with slightly herbal berry fruit. Palate long and powerful in the middle."
Winestate, Tasting Cabernet Sauvignon & Blends, July/August 2007
