The King Valley

The King Valley in north eastern Victoria is fast gaining a reputation for its delicious European style wines made from interesting Italian and Spanish varieties such as Sangiovese, Pinot Grigio and Tempranillo as well as established varieties Chardonnay, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Warm days and cool nights during the growing season provide ideal conditions for premium wine production. Soils vary according to altitude, slope and site characteristics  but deep red clay loams abound.Good drainage and fertility is encountered in most sites.

The De Bortoli vineyards cover 180 hectares along 3 kilometres of King River frontage where our staff can often be spotted fishing after a hard day’s work.
