DBHV Verdelho 2011

Region
Hunter Valley

Appearance
Medium straw colour with a good green edge.

Bouquet
Fresh, exotic mix of summer fruit, slightly wild aromatics.

Palate
Full flavours with passionfruit and white peach. Dry with soft acidity.

Vintage Conditions
After a cool wet growing season, it finally dried out in January to produce a classic Hunter vintage.  Whites are elegant, flavoursome and have good acidity.

Winemaking
Verdelho is picked at riper, slightly higher sugar levels to give good tropical fruit aromas and flavours. The fruit is pressed and cold settled overnight. A combination of fermentation and maturation in both stainless steel and cask helps build texture while retaining freshness. The resultant wine is medium weight and retains good exotic fruit characters of Verdelho.

Recommended
"This is a fresh style showing citrus and stone fruit characteristics. Rich fruit on the palate is nicely balanced by acidity and low level phenolics."
