Murphy's Vineyard Press Reviews

Murphy's Vineyard Semillon 2006

90 points
“Pale green-straw; the colour belies its age; very smooth and supple; the finish long, but quite soft; a left-field style.”
James Halliday’s Wine Companion 2009

Murphy's Vineyard Semillon 2003

"The 2003 Murphy’s Vineyard Semillon was a fine example of what the Hunter does best with this grape variety. A pale, green straw colour gives way to a restrained musky limey flavour. The palate shows intense varietal fruit flavour with sharp, lively acidity. It goes on to display a flinty, gooseberry, restrained pineapple flavour. The citrusy characters are more than evident; the wine is delicate with a crisp, clean acid finish."
Jim McMahon, Cork Screw, Education, Sutherland TAFE, 14 February 2005

"The single vineyard wines are unlikely to come out every year, but the 2003 vintage has produced one of each. At a recent tasting in Sydney both the single vineyard wines looked exceptional, the 2003 Murphy’s Hill Vineyard Semillon backward and lemony and, with lots of acid and lots of length (94 points). The Murphy’s Hill vineyard was planted in the 1960s on sandy soil, and is now hand pruned and hand picked."
