Emeri Press Reviews

Emeri Moscato Press Reviews

Emeri Moscato

"A very attractive moscato style that is fragrant and shows vibrant sweet grape and rose-petal flavours with refreshing crisp acidity to prevent its sweetness from becoming cloying."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2009

"This light, frothy wine has a penetrating, very grapey muscatel aroma that's deliciously sweet and juicy. The sweet palate is smooth and light, yet it has real impact, and a succulent grape-juicy finish, will keep you coming back for more."
Ralph Kyte-Powell, The Age, 30 July 2008

"If you're after something that's frothy and fun to pour over your strawberries this summer, this grapey, low-alcohol Muscat from Australia is just the job. Think of it as an Aussie riffon Asti Spumante."
Tim Atkin, Observer (UK), 25 May 2008

"This is a fragrant, fruity fizz with aromas of grapes and peaches. It has lots of flavour on the palate, with creamy bubbles and a sweet, grapey finish. Match it with celery sticks and dip."
Sally Gudgeon, Sun Herald, 16 March 2008

“Get the celebration started with De Bortoli’s new range of sparkling wines, Emeri. With two light, fruity flavours to choose from, Emeri Bianco and Emeri Pink Moscato, they’re perfect for any occasion. Available at all good bottleshops.”
OK Magazine, 28 January 2008

"Bright, fresh aromas with a perfumed edge to the pretty, lemony fruits. Lots of rose petal and sweet fruity flavours evolve in the mouth, with some similarity in style to Asti Spumante."
Winestate, Sparkling Non-Vintage, 1 December 2007

"Lovely rose petal bouquet. Very sweet moscato/spumante-style palate but has the acid to balance it out."
Winestate, New Releases, Sparkling Wines, 1 December 2007

“De Bortoli has the happy knack of over delivering on quality. This terrific fizz is a case in point, bursting with vibrant citrus and stonefruit flavours, zingy acidity, fine bubbles and a dry finish.”
Kerry Skinner, Illawarra Mercury, 29 November 2007

"A light, fruity moscato style wine with fresh, 'grapey' characters and a light, zingy acid. It's low in alcohol and is lovely with fresh fruits on a warm afternoon."
West Australian, 22 November 2007

"Bubbles, bubbles and more bubbles. The first sip of this sparkling wine will have the tastebuds dancing with masses of fine bubbles leading the way to a very sweet flavour profile. The effervescent characters continue and a light mouthfeel with the ever-present sugary tastes balanced by neutral acid."
Phillip Stubbs and Rebecca Tucker, Geelong Advertiser, 15 September 2007

Emeri Sparkling Shiraz Press Reviews

Emeri Sparkling Shiraz

"Aromas of wine gums and violets with plenty of complexity and freshness on the rich, fruity palate."
Winestate, Champagne & Sparkling Tasting, November/December 2008

"There's been huge improvement in the De Bortoli sparkling wines over the past few years and the 'Emeri' label now deserves to be rated among the most reliable of our budget-priced bubblies. Here's more proof: a soft, round and creamy sparkling red with ripe plummy flavours and a clean, sweet though balanced finished."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2009

Emeri Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc Press Reviews

Emeri Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc

"Perfumed aromas with a bright citrus lift and a floral citrus palate that has a long, lingering finish."
Winestate, Champagne & Sparkling Tasting, November/December 2008

"I know. I know. You'd don't expect to see a sparkling sauvignon, much less a sparkling sauvignon with a 'Bloody Good rating. Well, De Bortoli is just the kind of wine company that can get away with something like this. The bubbly is floral with bright, lively, tropical fruit flavours and some appley characters, very clean and balanced so that some sweetness on the finish is scarcely noticeable. It's very much fruit-driven and delightfully tangy."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2009

90 points

"Its sparkling and it's Sauvignon Blanc - and for thirteen bucks you might not expect much more than that. De Borts totally over delivers here, with a wine of great persistence, balance and fine structure. This is all 2008 fruit, with flavours of green apples, citrus and gooseberries."
Tyson Stelzer, WBM100, November 2008

"We love SB so why not put bubbles in it? Elegantly bottled, fresh and zesty, it's a delightful way to start a party."
Better Homes and Gardens, November 2008

"The Emeri Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc should get plenty of takers to at least give it a try given the variety's success as a table wine. It has the tropical fruit flavours and bracing acid that will be recognised by those who enjoy the variety in its usual form. It has some creamy characters, and the bubbles do give it the right look."
Mike Burnett, Launceston Examiner, 17 September 2008

"The Griffith-based De Bortoli wine company has a different slant on spring bubbly with its De Bortoli Emeri Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc. It has busy bubbles and aromas of kiwifruit and new-mown grass. The palate has crisp gooseberry flavour underpinned with melon and spice fruit characters and lemony acid..."
John Lewis, Newcastle Herald, 13 September 2008

"If there's a party on the horizon and you're going to need a few bottles of bubbles, give serious thought to De Bortoli's new Emeri Sparkling Sauvignon Blanc... It's loaded with soft tropical fruit flavours and a creaminess that will go with all manner of party-room finger food. And if for some reason you're looking for just a couple of celebratory glasses on your own, it also comes in a handy 200ml miniature.
David Ellis, Sunshine Coast Daily, 10 September 2008

Emeri Pink Moscato Press Reviews

 Emeri Pink Moscato

"Very fresh, fruity muscat nose with plenty of sweet muscat flavours on the palate, well balanced by acid."
Winestate, Champagne & Sparkling Tasting, November/December 2008

"I tasted the two 'Emeri' moscatos on different occasions and wrote quite similar notes on how they tasted. As well as its delicate salmon-pink colour, the pink had delightfully grapey flavours that were full-throttle, sweet on the mid-palate yet finishing clean, fresh and crisp. Still sweet but gently, refreshingly so."
Peter Forrestal, Quaff 2009

90 points

"There should be more wines of this style at this price. Emeri is a lot of fun, light in both alcohol and flavour, packed with honeyed ginger, Turkish delight and ripe strawberry fruits. Most importantly, it's fine, balanced and refreshing."
Tyson Stelzer, WBM100, November 2008

"Pretty, floral-rose-like fragrances. Soft and sweet in the mouth, with a lovely soft, creamy texture."
Winestate, River Regions and Riverina Tasting, September/October 2008

"Glug, glug-a-lug. Not one drop was left on Christmas Day of this refreshing fruity drink that's so delightfully thirst-quenching. Lightly frizzante, it's full of musk rose petal and Turkish delight notes, lovely and sweet but fresh with a clean finish that means a top-up is needed. In this instance, another bottle."
The Age, Jane Faulkner, 5 January 2008

"I particularly like the Emeri Pink Moscato, with its cheerful hues, busy bubbles and lively strawberry flavour."
Newcastle Herald, 26 December 2007

"The sparkling-wine cork and mesh give this moscato a more traditional presentation. Strawberry-scented and fresh. It's a wonderful celebratory drop. Match it with panettone."
Sally Gudgeon, Sun Herald, Wines Lesson, 9 December 2007

"Pale ruby pink in colour. Fresh strawberry and fragrant muscat aromas. A very sweet wine on the palate, offering soft creamy fruits in a light-bodied style."
Winestate, Sparkling Non-Vintage, 1 December 2007

"Delicate pink wine with a sweet floral nose and very sweet, lolly-like palate - very true to style."
Winestate, New Releases, Sparkling Wines, 1 December 2007

“What better way to honour the De Bortoli matriach, Emeri, then with this pretty pink sparkling. It’s sweet and sassy, great value, and glowing with candied strawberry and berry fruit flavours, a fine bead and crisp, clean finish.”
Kerry Skinner, Illawarra Mercury, 29 November 2007

"Fresh fruity muscaty wine with a touch of lifted strawberry and musk. Sweet, fruity and balanced with a fine crisp acid."
West Australian, 22 November 2007

"Fresh fruit aromas with strawberry and musk."
National Liquor News, November 2007

"Attractive salmon colour with muscaty, floral nose. Good, strong grapey flavours with soft texture. Impressive with long, persistent flavour."
Jeni Port, The Age, 13 November 2007

"Pale ruby pink in colour. Fresh strawberry and fragrant muscat aromas. A very sweet wine on the palate, offering soft, creamy fruits in a light-bodied style."
Winestate, New Releases, November/December 2007

"No wonder, really, given the De Bortoli family's long and proud Italian background, that a Moscato would eventually find its way into the range. This is an extremely well priced example: fun, slightly frothy and fruity."
Max Allen, Australian Gourmet Traveller, November 2007
