Windy Peak Dry Rosé 2010

Region
Yarra Valley, Victoria

Appearance
A quite vibrant pale pink colour.

Bouquet
Lifted red fruits – strawberries, touches of red currant. Quite aromatic with some savoury notes in the background.

Palate
Fresh red strawberries with underlying savoury notes. The palate shows softness, balance and a beautiful texture. The lifted fruit characters give freshness to the finish.

Vintage Conditions
The 2009 – 2010 growing season saw our earliest start to the season to date. Timely rainfall received in early summer gave the vineyard some relief from a dry winter & spring. Conditions for ripening of Pinot Noir, Grenache & Sangiovese were ideal with warm days & cool night. Fruit was picked in optimal condition.

Winemaking

The Pinot Noir, Grenache & Sangiovese was picked once the fruit had reached physiological ripeness. Once the fruit is pressed, it is left to settle overnight. The following day, the juice is racked to both stainless steel and older French oak casks for fermentation.

88 Points

If there is one wine Steve Webber really despises, it is sweet rose. Pale in colour and lean in character, this wine chases a dry, clean and crisp ideal. The palate is taut and savoury, with bramble and wild red fruits on offer, and the finish is dry, lean and refreshing. It's an all purpose food style, and it's ready now.
