DBHV Nouveau Shiraz 2009

Region
Lower Hunter Valley

Appearance
Bright appearance with good red hues and purple rim

Bouquet
Complex, brooding with fresh berry and spice, whole bunch aromas and hints of graphite

Palate
Soft, lightish but complex and mouth filling. Terrific length and drinkabilty

Vintage Conditions
Warm growing season. Timely rain (it is the Hunter!) producing wines with good colour and quite a lot of finesse.

Winemaking
All fruit is estate grown on our Wills Hill vineyard and hand picked for carbonic maceration. Fruit is whole bunch fermented with a mixture of foot treading and carbonic maceration (untouched bunches fermenting and extracting under their own steam).

Wine Analysis
Alc/Vol : 12.0%   pH : 3.67   TA : 4.8 g/L

Cellaring
We use the word Nouveau to tell people that it is fresh young red to guzzle. Surprisingly though, I think this wine will age really well over 3 years

Suggested Cuisine
Anything light and delicate. Duck, rabbit, pasta with white truffle – but they would probably go with any of my favourite wines.
