Consistent good value from this Australian house. This one is hearty and spicy with a bit of fruit on the nose: a casserole wine (lamb stew with green onions or your best goulash).
Jurgen Gothe, The Georgia Straight, January 2010
"This is an unusually complex, powerful wine in this modest price range. Blackberry, plum, a pinch of clove, mineral and a hint of vanilla on the nose open the way for big, rich blackberry flavours on the palate. Firm tannic grip, dark chocolate and plenty of spice on the finish. Solid characterful wine."
Sean Wood, The Chronicle Herald (Canada), November 2009
"The current steal in B.C. from the same Australian producer, though, is De Bortoli dB Selection Petite Sirah 2007. It's full-bodied, rich, toasty and intensely flavoured with plum and spice."

"This rather clunky grape wine is a good alternative to the ubiquitous Bogle Petit Sirah from California, its only real competition in the Petit Sirah segment. The dark fruit notes turn slightly dusty on the finish, hinting at black olives. Pair it with burgers, chops or streak. Drink now-2012."

"Saturated ruby. Peppery cherry and cassis aromas are a touch brooding, with subtle licorice and tobacco qualities adding complexity. Sweeter black raspberry and boysenberry on the palate, with a zesty note of cracked pepper adding verve. This became sweeter and more pliant with air but I find it a bit inscrutable. Give this some time."

“The 2007 Petite Sirah dB Selection delivers big bang for the buck. Dark ruby/purple-colored, it has an excellent nose of plum and blueberry. On the palate it is meaty and surprisingly rich. Drink this crowd-pleaser over the next 1-2 years.”
