Cooking up a storm with My Market Kitchen

By De Bortoli Wines |

It was back in 2013 on the set of MasterChef that Emma Dean and Lynton Tapp first met and a great friendship was born. Both found that they not only shared a passion for cooking, but also held similar beliefs in food, which is fuelled by their similar farming upbringing.

The two have joined forces on Network Ten’s newest cooking show ‘My Market Kitchen’, which is ‘a nice change of pace for daytime cooking shows’ Lynton assures.

‘It is an exciting concept where two great friends get to cook tasty, simple dishes with some of Australia’s best produce from our world-renown market, the Queen Victoria Market,’ Lynton says. Emma and Lynton have partnered with De Bortoli Wines to come up with a series of dishes that can be matched with our wines.

When it comes to choosing their favourite De Bortoli product, Emma can’t go past our Noble One; ‘I really enjoyed the cheese and wine tasting that I experienced at the [Yarra Valley] Cellar Door - I really enjoyed the flavour sensation of the Noble One and a rich blue cheese! Mind. Blown’, Emma has said.

While Lynton has taken a liking to our Windy Peak Pinot Noir, he has also discovered a special wine and food combination of his own; ‘I have enjoyed the Rococo Cuvée with a salmon crudo from time to time’, he said.

Emma and Lynton are both fans of cooking with wine. Emma’s ‘signature dish’, Chicken Gratin, uses wine and stock to create a delicious sauce, and Lynton loves to poach fruit in wine as an ‘ultimate luxury’ dessert - see his Noble Pears Recipe here.

According to Lynton, the audience can look forward to ‘exciting guests, cool locations and simple tasty food’.

‘Emma and I want to make farmers and purveyors of food cool again because without them Australia wouldn’t be the world leader in the best produce’, Lynton says.
