De Bortoli Wines has made a major commitment to the environment and sustainable practices with the overall aim to become a Zero Waste Wine Company. Over the past six years we have adopted many initiatives which include:
Participating in programs that will help reduce our carbon footprint eg Food for Trees, Greenhouse Challenge, National Packaging Covenant and the Australian Wine Industry Environmental Stewardship program. Details of these programs can be found at:

Adoption of Biological Farming practices including use of compost tea, compost and mulch and cover crop
Adopting recycling programs and practices at all sites to address packaging & waste management [eg making compost and mulch from grape skins and stalks, restaurant compostables]
Reusing waste water to irrigate crops
Removing all sodium based products from the Bilbul [Riverina] site, due to concerns about salinity
Several years ago the Bilbul [Riverina] site conducted a major Environmental Assessment. The following documents detail that work and provide an indication of De Bortoli's plans to minimise the impact of our business on the environment.
